Introduction

Canadian Chinese Table Tennis Federation (C.C.T.T.F.) is a non-profit organization officiated in the province of British Columbia as of September 2000 aims at:

  • promote the sport of table tennis and contribute to Canada Table Tennis Association by assisting the development of future world-class Canadian athletes
  • promote table tennis as an alternative means of exercise which will have tremendous benefits to all age groups
  • enhance friendship through linkage by table tennis with the rest of the world;

In order to carry out our mandates to the highest level, besides exerting self discipline all through our organization, we have also strived to succeed in forming a tight bondage with the Canadian National Organization called the Canadian Table Tennis Association (C.T.T.A.). Among many projects on the drawing board with C.T.T.A., we have so far succeeded in obtaining the title sponsor for the 2002-2006 STIGA Canada Cup.

The Canada Cup was inaugurated in 1998. It is designed as the top level competition system for Canadian table tennis athletes. All top Canadian table tennis players who want to represent Canada for International Competition must participate in this series in order to receive their fair and current standings. Players gather points throughout the year which either qualify them directly for international events or make them eligible for the Canadian Top 12, which is the qualification event for major international competitions (World Championships, Commonwealth Championship, etc.) Canada Cup is held 3 times a year starting November of each year. It consists of a Team league and a Singles competition. There are 80-150 players to participate per event.

In 2004, we shall have top representatives from Canadian Table Tennis Association through out the entire country, our current World Champion, a few invited elite players from other countries, officials from three-level of government and VIP from other associations and business entrepreneurs gathered together in Vancouver for this important event.

Eventually, the world of sport has become so extensively developed that its impact has surpassed its original intent until today. Sporting events played a significant role and acted as a bridge and platform for a lot of past significant break-through in the international arena. One of which we all should recall, was the ping pong diplomacy in the early seventies, of the 20th century. That major move eventually led to the removing of many obstacles of China with the rest of the western world. We believe this tiny white ball will once again bring limitless opportunities for us as well as for the community that we serve just as the following poem that reflects the theme of our federation:

Four seas linked by a ball so white,
Friendship blossoms in its light,
Brothers and sisters share one goal,
To build a future shining bright.
