The Canadian Chinese Table Tennis
Federation (C.C.T.T.F.) is a non-profit organization officiated
in the province
of British Columbia
as of September 2000.
It aims to:
·
To promote the sport of
table tennis and contribute to Canada Table Tennis Association
by assisting the development of future world-class Canadian
athletes,
·
To cultivate table tennis
as an alternative means of exercise which will have tremendous
benefits to all age groups,
·
To enhance friendship
through linkage by table tennis with the rest of the world.
The Canada Cup was inaugurated in 1998. It is
designed as the top level competition system for Canadian table
tennis athletes. All top Canadian table tennis players who want
to represent Canada
for International Competition must participate in this series in
order to receive their current standings. Players gather points
throughout the year which either qualifies them directly
for international events or makes them eligible for the Canadian
Top 12, the qualification event for major international
competitions (World Championships, Commonwealth Championship,
etc.)
The Canada Cup is held 3
times a year. This event is strictly
organized by TTCAN and does not require bidding by other
provincial organizations. It consists of a Team league
and Singles competition. There are 80-100 players
to participate per event, all of which are
top representatives from Canadian Table Tennis Association
gathered together in
Vancouver
for this important event.
The
STIGA Canada Cup
Premium event will take place at the Burnaby Campus of
the British Columbia Institute of Technology from September 15
to 16, 2007. The
technical support of Table Tennis Canada and
sponsorship from local communities will be essential to the
success of this event.
In addition, Canadian Chinese Table
Tennis Federation has organized a Launching Gala at the
Continental Seafood Restaurant on the evening of September 12,
2007. The table
tennis lovers, community friends and three levels of government
officials gathered at this special occasion.
The fans of Mr. Chen Weixing had a good time to meet with
this famous table tennis player from Austria at the autograph session.
